BOLD Delta Kappa Alumni Foundation

The BOLD Delta Kappa Alumni Foundation exists to preserve the legacy of Delta Kappa Chapter, strengthen the bonds among Brothers, and provide focused support for the Georgia Tech and surrounding communities that helped shape our story.

Our Chapter Legacy

Over 40 years ago on Saturday, November 20, 1976, BOLD Delta Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., was chartered at the Georgia Institute of Technology, making it the first Black Greek-Letter Organization chartered at Georgia Tech. The man who played a key role in getting Delta Kappa chartered was Brother James Mack, a graduate of Morgan State University (Π Chapter) and the Dean of Pledges for the first two lines at ΔK.

Since its chartering, Delta Kappa Chapter has added 35 lines and 147 Brothers to its number. Brothers of Delta Kappa Chapter have served the Georgia Tech and surrounding communities through outreach, tutoring, mentoring, student leadership, campus service, and community engagement.

Those efforts have included outreach at Techwood Homes, the first public housing project in the United States; tutoring at OMED Educational Services and service as OMED Challenge counselors; volunteering as Orientation Week coordinators; and active participation, board service, and officer leadership across campus organizations.

Beyond Georgia Tech

After graduation from Georgia Tech, Delta Kappa Brothers have gone on to excel in engineering, medicine, law, education, government, business, finance, military service, media, and professional sports. Among them are Dr. M. Brian Blake, president of Georgia State University; Dr. Gavin Samms, founder and Head of Schools of Genesis Innovation Academy; Ryan Stewart, former NFL player and co-host of the nationally syndicated sports talk show 2 Live Stews; and Alex Parker, who has served as CEO of Sequential Technology International, to name a few.

Delta Kappa’s tradition of athletic achievement includes professional football players Ryan Stewart and Cedric Stallworth and continues today with Zeek Biggers, a defensive lineman for the Miami Dolphins, and Chandler Simpson, an outfielder for the Tampa Bay Rays.

In the Atlanta community, Delta Kappa Brothers have been active with organizations including 100 Black Men of America, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Habitat for Humanity, Hands On Atlanta, Hosea’s Feed the Hungry and Homeless, National Children’s Leukemia Foundation, NAACP, Piedmont Park Conservancy, SAVE, and UNCF.

The chapter has also devoted time, energy, and enthusiasm to service projects and outreach at nursing homes, mental health centers, children’s hospitals, soup kitchens, area elementary and high schools, and local churches.
